A cold email earns a reply by reading like a sharp peer wrote it. Five inputs, one framework shape, a sub-125-word body and a lowercase subject line get it there, then the sequence carries the rest.
- Gathers the 5 inputs before writing: who exactly the prospect is and why them, the desired outcome, the specific problem solved, one proof point, and any research signal (funding, hiring, LinkedIn post, tech stack change). Works with whatever exists instead of blocking.
- Picks a framework shape that fits the situation: Observation then Problem then Proof then Ask, Question then Value then Ask, Trigger then Insight then Ask, or Story then Bridge then Ask. The opening leads with the prospect's world, never with who the sender is.
